What an extraordinary day!
A huge thank you to everyone who made Harpathon 2026 so incredibly special. To our 66 wonderful harpists, our schools (Withington Girls' School, The Manchester Grammar School, Chetham's School of Music, RNCM - Royal Northern College of Music and MHSG) teachers, volunteers, families, supporters and everyone who donated — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A big thank you especially to Withington Girls’ School for not only hosting the event but all the kindness and support you have given. It simply would not have happened without you.
Thank you also to Mrs Diane Hawkins JP LLB, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester for officially opening our Harpathon. What a privilege it was to have you with us.
A special thank you to Granada Reports and ITV for joining us and sharing our story with such a wide audience. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to shine a light on the harp and the importance of making music accessible to everyone.
Twelve continuous hours of harp music, so much talent, kindness and community spirit, and memories that will stay with us for a very long time.
I feel incredibly privileged to have been part of bringing everyone together for something so special. I have never before experienced such a unique and powerful atmosphere.
Most importantly, we’re raising funds to help bring the harp to more children and communities through Manchester Harp Festival’s “Harps For All” outreach programme. Bringing the harp to inner city schools and giving opportunities to everyone.
Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us make it happen.

12 hours straight of beautiful music performed by the incredible harp students from Withington Girls' School, The Manchester Grammar School, Chetham's School of Music, RNCM - Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester High School for Girls as well as other participants.
The planning that goes into an event like this is truly mind-blowing! I’m incredibly proud of my wife, Louise Thomson - Concert Harpist and her unbelievably hard-working team for making it such a great success!
Thanks to ITV News Granada TV for doing a news item on this event too! Fantastic publicity for a worthy cause!
